Sept. 13-14
The Art Bark Fest, an animal art and wine festival at The Village at Squaw Valley, includes more than 20 animal-themed booths, a benefit wine tasting, and live music from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival also includes a dog lake-jumping contest and a Squaw Valley rescue dog demo. This event benefits the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe and Squaw Rescue Dogs. Details: thebarkfestival.com.

Sept. 18
The Children’s Cabinet will host its annual fundraiser at the Eldorado Hotel Casino. It will include food, drink, and live and silent auctions. The event raises money to fund programs for runaway, homeless, and abducted children and teens in Northern Nevada and supports the new SafePlace teen drop-in center. Sept. 19
The fourth annual I Hope You Dance gala benefit for the Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease will take place at the Peppermill Resort Casino. Donations help those who suffer from ME/CFS, autism, fibromyalgia, atypical MS, and similar diseases that often result in lifelong injury to the immune system and the brain. Sept. 19
The Nevada Humane Society benefit auction will take place at Harrah’s Reno Hotel and Casino. The event will include entertainment, refreshments, and live and silent auctions. Details: Diane Blankenburg at 856-2000, ext. 331.

Sept. 20
The 40th annual Journal Jog includes an 8K fun run and walk with kids’ activities, food, music, and more. Register at rgj.com/journaljog. A pasta buffet dinner takes place Sept. 19 at the Peppermill Resort Casino. Participants receive a race T-shirt, water bottle, and other goodies. Funds go to the Reno Gazette-Journal Foundation to support area nonprofits. Details: Taylor Smith at 788-6434.
