Printmaking: Do it, see it
Artists Valia Hylin, Candace Nicol, and Eunkang Koh agree that printmaking is an art form accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Hylin recalls teaching a class at the Nevada Museum of Art in which a 10-year-old student had no problem making prints from chemical-free solar plates. "It"s great for kids" she says. "It"s fast, it"s easy."

• Printmaking classes are held at the University of Nevada, Reno, and Truckee Meadows Community College, and Nicol is teaching a five-day workshop July 23-27 at St. Mary"s Art Center in Virginia City. For workshop information, contact Nicol at info@candacenicol.net.

• Northern Nevada printmakers share insights and ideas through Printmakers" Conspiracy, an organization whose goal is to increase public awareness of printmaking techniques through educational projects and exhibitions. For more information, visit printmakersconspiracy.com.

• The Nevada Museum of Art periodically offers printmaking classes through its Museum School. For details, visit nevadaart.org/school or call 329-3333, ext. 260.

• Many local printmakers, such as Nicol, Koh, and in the past, Hylin, also participate in Artouring, in which the general public is invited to see artists behind the scenes at work in their studios. For more information, visit artouring.com.
