AIA Juror - Andrea Turman

Andrea Turman is an architectural writer, and the former features editor of HOME Magazine, sister publication to Architectural Digest . She earned her professional degree from the University of Oregon School of Architecture before moving to New York City to develop the creative services division for a major corporation, one of her clients. For 20 years she has worked with large corporations, small start-up companies, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions to develop, brand, and communicate their programs, products, and services.

As features editor of HOME Magazine in New York , she helped reposition a young publication against the largest magazines in the country. After returning west to marry and raise a family, she remained with the magazine as a contributing editor, and helped launch and market an award-winning architectural manufacturing firm in partnership with two former directors of Knoll International. Andrea has also served as marketing and product development manager for Skagen Denmark , an international watch manufacturer based in Nevada .

She is currently marketing specialist for Extended Studies at the University of Nevada , Reno , where she helps promote the university's local, national, and international outreach efforts. She has served on the KNPB, Channel-5 Educational Advisory Committee; Virginia Range Wildlife Protection Association Board of Directors; Piper's Opera House Board of Directors; Nevada Shakespeare Company Board of Directors; and the Tanager Foundation Board of Trustees, a Rockefeller family foundation. Andrea has three sons and tends Geary House, a 130-year-old Victorian in Virginia City , Nevada.
